A Cornish Christmas Gift Guide!

Christmas is a wonderful time of year, extra time off work to spend with family and friends, the smell of mulled wine, Christmas lunch spent scoffing Turkey and Sprouts (vege options of course available :)). Time is precious and with the pressures to please when it comes to the presents you do not want to spend your time traipsing the high street panic buying!

I have created a Cornish Gift guide......call me an angel but I have put some thought into where to buy from and who to buy for....You're Welcome!

Of course it wouldn't be Christmas without getting one of our new Disco Bead Christmas decorations! With all new decorations for this year.. treat yourself to an Angel or one of our Scandinavian inspired heart, tree or stars. Perfect to spruce up the tree or buy in bulk for Stocking Fillers!

The thought of rushing around the shops dodging in and out of stressed shoppers is my idea of hell, over priced over merchandised stores all desperate for our Christmas custom...so I tend to avoid the busy towns and cities and do the bulk of my Christmas shopping online. My Top Tip for shopping online at Christmas is to do it early, with the delay in postage around this busy period its best to be organised sit down with your head in the online shopping world and get the bulk of your presents bought with plenty of time to research deals (and think about what your dad really wants rather then getting him socks for the 3rd year in a row!)

Shopping online can save lots of time and energy but for the more unique gifts I tend to pop to local boutiques and shops. In and around Cornwall we have beautiful village stores and outlets to find all sorts of treasures. Cornish goodies are always good for family and friends over the border.

My mum loves a candle, although I could get a generic candle anywhere I love to treat my mum to something a little more special, I mean if you can't treat your loved ones at Christmas when can you?   I always head to St Eval Candle Factory,  the smell alone is enough to warrant my visit but the variations of candle available at their factory is beautiful!  Whilst you're up visiting St Eval, head to The Kernow Chocolate Factory for some locally made Chocolate. Perfect after dinner coffee accompaniment or just to splurge on. That's what this time of year is for, indulging and splurging! Their Chocolate also makes for great gifts maybe for office colleagues.

My favourite Shop is Rarebits in Truro, its a treasure trove of goodness! You will find something for everyone and anyone. You have to have eyes everywhere, this converted house has become a unique shop with every room fit to burst with vintage pieces, retro home wares and all things quirky! The owner is an eccentric bearded fellow who offers a witty comment as you rummage through his hoarded treasures! I always find something different for my sassy sisters to either wear or display in their homes. I never leave there empty handed!

Never underestimate a Garden Centre, I love to head to Trelawney Garden Centre as at Christmas it turns into a grotto of goodness! From Outdoor lights to the all important Christmas tree, Trelawney Garden Centre is full of all your Christmas essentials. They even have a special visit from the big man himself, check their website to find out when Santa and his elves will be there in their own grotto, offering a chance to meet him and get your little ones in the mood for Christmas! They have an extensive book shop where you can treat Grandma to a new Novel or pick up a new House Plant for the neighbour. Don't forget to stop in the cafe for a Coffee and Cake..very important when on a Christmas Shopping Spree!
