You can see we had fun with the photo shoot!
The distinguishing features of the Art Deco style are simple, clean, bold shapes, often with a “streamlined” look. Art Deco objects were rarely mass-produced, but the characteristic features of the style show an admiration for the modernity of production line machines and for the design qualities of machine-made objects: simplicity, grace, repetitive patterns.
The new style used smooth, polished, satined surfaces of precious metals, plastics like bakelite or steel. Compositions were based around the strength of geometric forms, using bold repetitive patterns and striking motifs.
The 1920's and 1930's also boasted the 'flapper' era, where strings of pearls were used to accessorise and were even sewn onto dresses! What better than a new take on the old style when light reflective Disco Beads get in on the action!
