Rainbow Run Newquay 2018

Sunday 24 June 2018
11:00am - 3:00pm
RAF St Mawgan, Newquay
Event organiser: CHSW
This is a 5km fun run where runners wear white, and as they reach the ‘Rainbow Zones’ at each kilometre point, they are showered with coloured powder paint – reaching the finish line covered in 5 different colours. Participants are able to run or jog; allowing accessibility for all fitness levels and anyone over the age of 5! The product used in Rainbow Run is an organic powder made from potato starch which is designed for use by children and is made right here in the UK.

Check out the fun had at the Rainbow Run 2016!
This fun event will be raising funds for the southwest charity, which has its Little Harbour hospice near St Austell – helping to raise a smile for life limited children across the South West. Having been completed 5 years ago, Little Harbour is currently supporting over 100 life-limited children from Cornwall & Plymouth. The beautiful hospice provides respite care for the whole family so that parents can get the break that they need and the well brothers & sisters can be looked after by a dedicated sibling team, allowing them to enjoy fun activities that are difficult to do in their daily lives due to the demands of caring for a life-limited child. Families can stay several times a year and often use the hospice for many years; from the point of diagnosis, the Little Harbour care team will journey with the family and give them vital support during the difficult times ahead whilst creating wonderful memories for them to treasure. The hospice also provides emergency, palliative and end of life care; and continues to support the family through bereavement and beyond. The care offered at each of the hospices is not simply about medical and nursing care for sick children, but about enriching the lives of children and their families.
 Little Harbour Rainbow Run
CHSW is funded almost entirely by voluntary donations – it costs over £10 million to run the 3 hospices each year (Little Harbour, plus Little Bridge House in Barnstaple and Charlton Farm near Bristol) so fundraising is vital in order to ensure that this support continues into the future and that CHSW can help to make the most of short and precious lives.
 Rainbow Run
As well as the Rainbow Run, there are many other ways that you can get involved with fundraising for CHSW – there is a ladies Moonlight Walk in Falmouth in September, fabulous Santa Runs at Eden at Christmas, a range of individual overseas challenges and lots of ideas for fundraising in the workplace! There are also volunteer opportunities at events and in the shops. Please do see the website for more details: www.chsw.org.uk/get-involved
 Rainbow Run
Little Harbour holds monthly open days where members of the public can go along and see for themselves this incredible local facility – there are no children staying at the time and it’s a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into the work that is done and to really see how the money raised is used. Many people may have an idea of what they think a children’s hospice is like, but by visiting Little Harbour you can see for yourself just what a special and happy place it is; a place that really does raise a smile!
